F.A.I.T.H. 5k run / 2 mile walk PDF Print E-mail

F A I T H Addiction Awareness of Green County will be holding its first annual 5K run/2 mile walk on August 29th, 2015, in Monroe, Wisconsin. Our hope is to have this event every year close to Overdose Awareness Day at the end of August. Please check out our web site www.faithgreencounty.wix.com/addictionawareness

F A I T H (Fighting Addition: It Takes Help) is an organization brought about to raise awareness of the problems that addiction brings, not only to the addict themselves, but their families, as well as their communities. It is our hope to bring awareness and education to the entire Green County community. Many people have been affected by addiction to alcohol or drugs in their own families, or know of someone who has been affected. Addictions to narcotics in particular continue to grow. An addiction to narcotic pills may lead one into trying other dangerous substances including heroin. Overdoses in rural areas of Wisconsin account for a significant portion of the heroin overdoses seen in our state. Green County heroin overdose rates have risen from 0 per 100,000 in 2008 to 12-26 per 100,000 in 2012 (scaoda.state.wi.us)
