The 9th Annual Movin' Shoes Full Moon 5k and Kids run will take place on Thursday July 25th, 2013. Headlamps and flashing lights are encouraged, as the run will take place on the night of a full moon. Registration is limited to just 500 runners and typically fills fast, so make sure you sign up early and get the less expensive $20 registration fee!  After July 4th it will increase to $25.

Coordinated by the Wisconsin Track Club, sponsored by the Sport & Spine Clinic, Trader Joes, Qdoba Mexican Grill, and Whole Pet Clinic.
     
Timing Chip Pickup: Regardless of whether you have already picked up your race bag, you must pick up a chip in order to be timed between 7:00pm and 8:30pm right before the race. The chip distribution will be under the orange Movin' Shoes tent at Olin Park.

Packet Pick-up: In-store packet pickup Wednesday July 24th, 10am - 8pm, on Race Day, July 25th from 10am - 3pm, and right before the race at the Olin Park Shelter from 7pm - 8:30pm.

Race Start: The race ends at Olin Park, but starts at Bernie's Beach. If you are unfamiliar with the area we have volunteers from the Madison LaFollette Cross Country Team who will lead runners to the starting line. You will need to begin walking over to Bernie's Beach from the Olin Park Shelter no later than 8:45pm in order to be at the start line in time. order to be at the start line in time.

Run Down the Wolf!:  We are bringing back our challenge from last year....Run Down the Wolf! In keeping with the theme of the race logo, we will have a werewolf running the Full Moon Run! Beat the wolf and win a special prize!

When: Thursday July 25, 2013
  • 8:30 pm Kids' Run
  • 8:30 pm - Everyone must report to the Olin Park Shelter before 8:30pm on race day to pick up their timing chips!
  • 8:40pm - Last person should begin walking to the start at Bernie's Beach from the Olin Park Shelter
  • 9:00pm - 5k race start

Entry Limit: The Full Moon Run is limited to 500 runners and participants are accepted on a first come first serve basis.

  • The Full Moon Run is looking for a few people who want to help out with the race.

Charity:
  • Proceeds from the Full Moon 5k and Kids’ Run will benefit kids in need of running shoes. For the past two years, Movin’ Shoes has worked with the University of Wisconsin marathon training class to provide running shoes for elementary students at Glendale Elementary School on Madison’s East side.
  • Throughout the semester, UW–Madison marathon class students run with the children, teaching them how to lead healthier lifestyles. By the end of May, each child has logged nearly a marathon’s worth of miles! The semester culminates with a fun run around the Capitol Square, which brings each child’s mileage to 26.2!
